5 guidelines to make your destination wedding sustainable.

If you don’t know how to organize an eco-friendly destination wedding, this article is for you!
Take a deep breath, this is not a seven-headed bug!
There are several environmentally friendly alternatives that you can choose from, and here, we leave you five:

1- RENT PLANTS AT LOCAL GARDEN CENTERS – If you are looking for a botanical decoration for your destination wedding, why not decorate the space with potted plants and flowers, so that you can deliver them, after the wedding, to the respective garden?! Not only do you help local businesses, but you also allow your wedding plants to be sold, planted, and cared for in homes later on.

2- HIRE REGIONAL SUPPLIERS – For all your wedding services, select local professionals, as well as choose raw materials from the area. In addition to guaranteeing the Portuguese essence and identity, avoid the use of transport and, consequently, fuel consumption, and you also strengthen, once again, the local economy.

3- LESS IS MORE – On the selected menu, choose a cocktail, followed by a seated meal, with a starter, a main course and enjoy the Wedding Cake as the main dessert. The buffet service contributes to the increase of a large amount of food waste and does not guarantee quality. We know that, with delicious Portuguese cuisine, it can be difficult, but it’s best to limit your options. We also add that, to reduce the use of paper, ensure that the invitation – because you will like to keep this memory – is the only printed graphic element you will have at your wedding. Use QR Codes to share the menu, the location of the tables, or even your wedding program!

4- MAKE THE MOST OF THE NATURAL LIGHT – If you are going to get married in Portugal, you will certainly appreciate the good weather and the good landscape! So choose a place that has plenty of space outside, so you can enjoy as many hours of light as possible and maybe get a little tan!

5- OFFER SOMETHING TO THOSE WHO NEED IT – Several Portuguese institutions thank you for donations and that allow you to transmit this donation to your guests, through a symbolic souvenir such as a clown nose from Operação Nariz Vermelho. Your guests will enjoy the game, and the Institution you choose will forever be yours, and that in addition to helping the Institution, helped the environment.

As we mentioned before, there are many more creative ideas that can be used to avoid waste and contribute to the reduction of our ecological footprint and our Wedding Planners have plenty!
