Missing the fussy wedding season, at today’s post, I will be talking to you about Luba and Carlos’ wedding, that happened the last 23rd of June 2018, at the amazing Douro Valley.

Carlos, a funny and passionate Portuguese groom living abroad contacted me in December of 2017 to get to know more about our work in order to help him, and his beautiful Russian fiancée Luba, planning their intimate wedding in Portugal.

When we met, I suddenly realized that they really knew what they wanted for their special day and we were so pleased to be their choice to be in charge of the planning process.

Their main concern was that they wanted to give their guests a traditional Portuguese experience during their stay. So, to get it we’ve planned winery activities and the wedding day had a full package of what best Portugal has to offer.

We’ve started the day with a small trip to a local vineyard followed by a wine tasting session and a cozy lunch. All the guests were able to enjoy the view, taste great food and great wine while having fun at the relaxed countryside.

Then, everybody went to get ready to the ceremony that started at 5.30pm. It was a symbolic and friendly moment hosted by their closest friends and we had Portugal remembered in every corner of the event.

As you can see, the wedding date was scheduled for the same day as the popular fair in Porto, São João, so we had to have perfumed Manjericos – a plant from the family of Basel that you can see everywhere during that fair. They were used during the exchange of their vows. It gave that moment much more than an overwhelming fragrance.

The wedding cake was also one of a kind: a pyramid made of our famous pastéis de Nata and between rock n’ roll and Porto wine, we had a great time with people from all over the globe.

As we always say “A picture is worth a thousand words” so I really hope you’ll enjoy their trailer, made by the talented videographers Pedro Cruz e David Gomes and the photos captured by our beloved Meraki. You can also check more photos from this wedding at our gallery here.
