Solar de Pancas

About this venue

Solar de Pancas is a 15th-16th-century manor, recognisable from afar by the ivy that clothes its walls. In the wine region of Alenquer, it’s one of those old manors with several rooms, a chapel, and beautiful gardens — the kind of place where the history is in the stones, not in the captions.

It was a family home for centuries and, relatively recently, opened its doors to weddings. It keeps its manor character: rooms with soul for dinner, a chapel for a religious ceremony, and gardens for an outdoor ceremony and the cocktail.

For couples who want a wedding with serious history, ivy-covered walls, and the quiet of Alenquer, this is the spot. If you ask us, it’s one of the most authentic manors north of Lisbon.

History

Solar de Pancas dates back to the 15th-16th centuries — one of the manors that punctuate the rural landscape of Alenquer, a region of long winemaking tradition north of Lisbon. For generations it was a family residence, and that longevity reads in the stone, the chapel, and the layout of the rooms.

The conversion to weddings was recent and careful: instead of turning the manor into a generic backdrop, what it always was has been preserved — an old house with a chapel, historic rooms, and gardens, now in the service of celebrations. The ivy on the walls is its signature.

If you ask us, there are venues that imitate history and venues that genuinely have it. Solar de Pancas is clearly the second kind.

About the Location

We’re in the Alenquer region, in the heart of the rural, winemaking landscape north of Lisbon — hills, vineyards, and the quiet of the country, about forty-five minutes from the airport. It’s authentic countryside, far from the crowds, but a short distance from the city.

The advantage for a destination wedding is rural privacy with access: the manor is surrounded by nature, but Lisbon, the coast, and Sintra are a short distance off for the guests to explore.

Anything the guests might want to do — Alenquer wine tasting, a day in Lisbon, the coast — is at hand. Arriving is easy. Leaving — we can’t quite guarantee that part.

Weddings at Solar de Pancas

Solar de Pancas is a wedding with history. The ceremony can be religious, in the manor’s chapel, or civil/symbolic in the gardens, among the ivy-covered walls; the cocktail spreads across the gardens; dinner settles in the several historic rooms, and the party runs into the night.

Versatility is its strength: several rooms for different moments and scales, a chapel for the religious ceremony, gardens for the open air. On a full-buyout basis, the whole manor is yours, with total privacy on the day.

It’s a venue that favours historic character and authenticity over spectacle — ideal for couples who want old stone, ivy, and a real chapel. And this is exactly where our experience comes in. The couple’s session winds through the ivy-covered walls, the chapel, and the gardens of a 15th-16th-century Alenquer manor. Pop the question. We handle the rest.

What Mary Me Unlocks

A historic manor with a chapel and several rooms is exactly the kind of space where our coordination makes the difference, especially in linking a religious ceremony, dinner, and party across distinct settings of the same house. We handle the design of the day, the supplier selection, the management of the lodging in the area — since the on-site room capacity is to be confirmed — and the transfers from Lisbon airport, about forty-five minutes away. And there’s the practical side: the civil-ceremony paperwork in Portuguese, the sound permits, and a programme of Alenquer, Lisbon, and the coast for the guests. From the first call to the last dance.
