L’AND Vineyards

About this venue

L’AND Vineyards is the kind of place that rearranges your idea of an Alentejo wedding. A five-star Relais & Chateaux wine retreat set in a south-facing valley of organic vineyards near Montemor-o-Novo, with the medieval castle on the skyline and an architecture so clean it disappears into the landscape. The famous Sky Suites even open their ceilings to the stars.

For weddings, it pairs the soul of the Alentejo with contemporary design: vineyards for the ceremony, a winery where you can make your own wine, a Sisley-calibre spa, and suites and pool villas for the group. It’s the wine wedding for couples who want design and substance in equal measure.

For couples who want a modern, vineyard wedding an hour from Lisbon, this is the spot. If you ask us, it’s the most architecturally beautiful wine hotel in the country.

History

L’AND Vineyards was conceived as a sanctuary where wine, architecture, and the Alentejo landscape meet. Designed by the studios Promontorio and Marcio Kogan, the hotel sits in a gently sloping valley of organic vineyards overlooking the medieval castle of Montemor-o-Novo, with an art collection that includes sky-inspired works by Michael Biberstein.

Wine is at the root of its identity: guests can follow the harvest, make their own blend at the winery, and sleep, quite literally, beneath the Alentejo night sky in the Sky Suites, whose ceilings retract to the stars. It’s a member of Relais & Chateaux, and it has become one of the most celebrated wine retreats in Portugal.

If you ask us, there are wine hotels that lean on the cliche and wine hotels that reinvent it. L’AND is clearly the second kind.

About the Location

We’re in Montemor-o-Novo, in the heart of the Alentejo, about forty-five minutes from Lisbon airport, four kilometres from the town and twenty minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Evora. It’s serious wine country, with open plains, oaks, and the medieval castle on the horizon.

The advantage for a destination wedding is the balance of access and immersion: an easy hour from Lisbon, yet wholly in the Alentejo, with the calm, the vineyards, and the stars. Evora, the wineries, and the Costa Vicentina beaches are all within reach for the guests.

Anything the guests might want to do — wine tasting, Evora, a day at the vineyards, stargazing — is at hand. Arriving is easy. Leaving — we can’t quite guarantee that part.

Weddings at L'AND Vineyards

L’AND Vineyards is a design-led vineyard wedding. The civil, symbolic, or religious ceremony takes place among the vines or by the lake, with the castle on the skyline; the cocktail spreads across the terraces and the rooftop; dinner settles in the restaurant or in an outdoor structure over the vineyards, with the house wines flowing, and the party runs on under the Alentejo stars.

With its suites and pool villas, the hotel lodges the group on-site, and the winery, the spa, and the indoor and outdoor pools turn the wedding into an immersive two- or three-day experience. The clean architecture and the vineyard light do most of the work.

It’s a venue that favours design, wine, and discreet luxury over spectacle — ideal for couples who want a contemporary Alentejo wedding with substance. And this is exactly where our experience comes in. The couple’s session winds through the organic vineyards, by the lake, and under the open Alentejo sky at golden hour. Pop the question. We handle the rest.

What Mary Me Unlocks

A design-led wine retreat an hour from Lisbon, with couples flying in from abroad, is exactly where our coordination makes the difference, especially in designing a multi-day wedding and the logistics for international guests. We handle the design of the day in coordination with the L’AND team, the allocation of the suites and pool villas for the group, and the transfers from Lisbon airport, about forty-five minutes away. And there’s the practical side: the civil-ceremony paperwork in Portuguese, the sound permits, and a programme of wine tasting, the winery, Evora, and the Alentejo for the guests. From the first call to the last dance.
