Noah Surf House

About this venue

Some weddings want palaces. And some weddings want sand between the toes, an infinity pool over the sea, and the feeling that nobody’s going to tell the guests to behave. The Noah Surf House is for the second kind.

It’s an eco and boho surf hotel right by the beach, in Santa Cruz, on the Silver Coast — eight rooms and thirteen bungalows made from recycled materials, an infinity pool, a jacuzzi, a skatepark, a surf school, an organic garden, and a restaurant with an ocean view led by a chef who came from the acclaimed Areias do Seixo. All of it run on solar power and a laid-back spirit.

For couples who want a wedding with no formalities, with surf, sun, and sunset over the Atlantic, this is the spot. If you ask us, it’s the definition of a beach wedding with no quotation marks.

History

The Noah was born to celebrate the coast: a hotel designed in full respect for nature, facing the sea, built with reclaimed materials and renewable energy — from the solar panels that heat the water to the system that does without air conditioning, letting the breeze do the work. The aesthetic is boho, made of weathered wood, fishing nets, and earthy tones.

It’s a sibling of Areias do Seixo, a reference in design hospitality on the same coast, and from that family it inherited a care for food: the restaurant, with seventy seats inside and thirty-six outside, is led by a chef who spent a decade at Areias before taking on this challenge.

If you ask us, the Noah proves that sustainability and a party aren’t on opposing teams — here, they walk hand in hand, barefoot, on the sand.

About the Location

We’re in Santa Cruz, on the Silver Coast, one of the calmest beaches north of Ericeira — twenty kilometres of coast full of beaches for surf, picnics, and lazy days in the sun. The hotel sits right on the sand, facing Praia da Fisica, with the ocean filling the horizon.

The advantage for a destination wedding is the feeling of escape without the distance: Lisbon airport is about fifty minutes away, Ericeira half an hour to the south, and Obidos a short drive to the north.

Anything the guests might want to do — surf, beach, an escape to Obidos or Ericeira — is at hand, without ever taking their feet off the sand. Arriving is easy. Leaving — we can’t quite guarantee that part.

Weddings at Noah Surf House Portugal

A wedding at the Noah is relaxed at its core. Civil and symbolic ceremonies take place outdoors, on the sand or on the deck over the sea, with the sunset as a backdrop, and Catholic ones are coordinated at the area’s churches. The cocktail flows across the terraces, by the infinity pool and the jacuzzi.

Dinner settles in the restaurant and the outdoor spaces — seventy seats inside, thirty-six out — with the Mediterranean- and Asian-inspired kitchen taking centre stage. The atmosphere is boho, intimate, perfect for smaller-scale weddings that want a party with no protocol and that will almost certainly end up in the pool.

And there’s the accommodation trump card: with the hotel’s eight rooms and thirteen bungalows, the couple and part of the group sleep over the sea, and the wedding stretches into a weekend of surf, sun, and togetherness. The couple’s session moves on the sand, the deck, and the Santa Cruz cliffs at golden hour. Pop the question. We handle the rest.

What Mary Me Unlocks

When we organise a wedding here, we handle everything that links this hotel to the world your guests come from. We handle the transfers — taking advantage of the roughly fifty minutes to Lisbon airport — and the management of the accommodation between the hotel’s rooms and bungalows and the area’s hotels for overflow, with the arrival sequencing of an international group. And there’s the practical side: the permits for a beach ceremony and for fireworks over the sea, the sound curfew, the civil-ceremony paperwork in Portuguese, and a programme of surf, Obidos, and Ericeira for the guests who stay on. From the first call to the last dance.
