Yesterday you said YES to your Destination Wedding in Portugal and you don’t know where to start?!

In today’s post we’re sharing with you the 3 FIRST STEPS that you should take into account if you are planning a destination wedding in Portugal.

1. Make your guests’ list: It may sound like a cliché but it’s a lot more complex than you think. We advise you to use an online Excel so that you can update up to the minute and share it with your partner. Besides writing down first and last name of all your guests and contacts, you’ll also need to register their nationalities, from which city are they coming from, their age, accommodation and transport preferences, dietary restrictions and any particularities that you think are important to take note of. Oh! And don’t forget to include both of your names and needs! This process will take some time to be completed but it’s the key to moving on to the next ones.

2. Write down your own preferences: Write down what you want to be guaranteed in each vendor, what you definitely don’t want at all and what you don’t give up, in any circumstances. Make a complete list with as much detail as possible. The more details and information you write, the easier it will be to start looking for suppliers. Only then, you can have a clear and objective idea of what you are, in fact, looking for.

3. Start the venue “hunting”: Once you are  aware of the needs of all your guests and also about your own preferences, you will be able to define the type of venue you are looking for. From our opinion, the top list for destination weddings are venues with accommodations (hotels or similars), as they have the ability to host more than one day events, avoiding unpacking and repacking your bags every day and thinking about daily transport for you and your guests for the multiple days. In Portugal, we’re lucky to have a lot of great suggestions, from North to South of the country, but our favorites are, undoubtedly, based in our beloved Douro Valley.

Despite being a very complex theme, we hope that these tips we’re giving you are useful and help you start planning your Destination Wedding in Portugal.
