There are beautiful hotels, and then there’s Areias do Seixo — a fusion of concrete, glass, driftwood, and dunes, hidden on a discreet stretch of the Silver Coast, an hour from Lisbon. Suspended fireplaces, sheepskin throws, terraces facing the Atlantic, evening bonfires with acoustic music and wine: it’s the kind of place that makes architects sigh and couples fall in love.
But what really sets Areias do Seixo apart is the soul: sustainability taken seriously (geothermal and solar power, an organic garden, reused materials) and a design that crosses Nordic minimalism with the colours of India and Africa. A wedding here is barefoot, sensory, and deeply original.
For couples who want a beach wedding with design and conscience, far from the obvious, this is the spot. If you ask us, it’s the hotel with the most personality on the coast north of Lisbon.
The hotel offers fourteen rooms in the main building, plus private-pool houses and the Shelter glamping, so guests stay on-site and the wedding becomes a stay. Mary Me manages the allocation between the wedding party, family, and guests, with transfers handled.
Areias do Seixo was born from a dream of its owners, Marta and Gonçalo, with sustainability at the centre from day one — it was literally built on the site of an abandoned chicken farm, reusing materials from the former buildings, regional stone, pebble, glass, and wood.
When a storm uprooted trees along the coast in 2008, the owners turned them into statement pieces for the main house and the houses. Everything here is handmade, considered, intentional: the energy is renewable, the ventilation natural, the food comes from the garden and local farmers. It’s hotel and manifesto at once.
If you ask us, there are hotels that decorate with sustainability and hotels that breathe it. Areias do Seixo is, without doubt, the second kind.
We’re in A-dos-Cunhados, on the Silver Coast, on a stretch of dunes and pine facing the Atlantic, about an hour from Lisbon. It’s one of the most discreet and best-kept areas of the Portuguese coast — wild beach, no crowds, with the ocean as the nearest neighbour.
The advantage for a destination wedding is seclusion with access: Lisbon airport is about fifty minutes away, and Ericeira and Peniche, with their world-class surf, half an hour off.
Anything the guests might want to do — surf, beach, a day in Lisbon, Sintra — is at hand. Arriving is easy. Leaving — we can’t quite guarantee that part.
Areias do Seixo is a beach wedding, but not the flip-flops-and-generic-cocktail kind: it’s beach with signature design. The symbolic ceremony takes place on the dunes, with the ocean behind and the golden hour doing the rest; the cocktail and dinner spread across the terraces and the unrepeatable interior spaces, and the party ends, almost always, around a bonfire.
With fourteen rooms in the main building, plus private-pool houses and the Shelter glamping, guests all stay on-site — which makes the wedding a stay, not an event. The restaurant, fed by the organic garden, gives a culinary experience few beach venues can match.
It’s a venue of intimate scale, favouring atmosphere and originality over spectacle — ideal for couples who want something sensory and off-script. And this is exactly where our experience comes in. The couple’s session moves on the dunes, the driftwood interiors, and the Atlantic golden hour of the Silver Coast. Pop the question. We handle the rest.
A design hotel of intimate scale like this is exactly where our coordination adds value, especially for international guests coming from afar for a different kind of experience. We handle the design of the day in coordination with the hotel team, the management of the rooms, houses, and glamping for the group, and the transfers from Lisbon airport, about fifty minutes away. And there’s the practical side: the civil-ceremony paperwork in Portuguese, the sound permits in the coastal zone, and a programme of surf, beach, Ericeira, and Lisbon for the guests. From the first call to the last dance.
A signature beach wedding — ceremony on the dunes, dinner in unrepeatable design spaces, and a party around the bonfire, with a strong sustainability footprint. Barefoot, sensory, and original, far from the generic beach wedding.
It’s a setting of intimate to medium scale. The exact capacity for your format is confirmed with the hotel.

It is — geothermal and solar power, natural ventilation, an organic garden, and reused materials. For couples who want a wedding aligned with environmental values, it’s one of the most coherent venues in Portugal.
From late spring to early autumn, to enjoy the dunes, the terraces, and the golden hour over the Atlantic. We recommend booking in advance for summer dates.
It’s an eco-conscious design hotel on the dunes of the Silver Coast, with suspended fireplaces, an Indo-African aesthetic, and serious sustainability — a sensory, original beach wedding. Personality like few venues on the coast.
