In the hills north of Lisbon, Mary Me works with Quinta do Pinto, a wine estate in the underrated Alenquer DOC. It is about 40 minutes from Lisbon airport, suits up to around 300 guests and is at its best from late spring to early autumn.
Alenquer’s distinctiveness is wine and quiet history, close to Lisbon. It anchors a DOC of its own name in the Lisboa wine region and shared the title of European Wine City with neighbouring Torres Vedras, a landscape of vineyards, hills and whitewashed houses tumbling down a slope, which earned it the affectionate name presepio de Portugal, the country’s nativity scene.
