About this venue

Marrying in a city does not have to mean marrying among buildings. The Boeira Garden Hotel proves it: it is a five-star hotel set in the historic gardens of Quinta da Boeira, in Vila Nova de Gaia, where you breathe green and silence two kilometres from the Port wine cellars and the Douro river.

It is a contemporary hotel, of the Curio Collection by Hilton, with 124 rooms, a spa with an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, and a rooftop with 360-degree views over Gaia and Porto. For weddings, it has the lush gardens for the outdoor ceremony and a banquet hall for dinner — and, right next door, the Quinta da Boeira cellars.

For couples who want a garden wedding with the convenience of a five-star hotel, minutes from Porto’s centre, this is a perfect spot. Not bad, right?

The Boeira Garden Hotel has 124 rooms and suites, with warm colours in harmony with the gardens, many with a balcony and a view over the green or the pool. History

The Boeira Garden Hotel was born in 2019, but the place it sits on has an older history: the gardens of Quinta da Boeira, a classic Gaia property, today also known for its cellars and for the largest bottle of Port wine in the world. The hotel was built from scratch to fit into those gardens, rather than erasing them.

Part of the Curio Collection by Hilton — the brand’s line of character hotels — the Boeira goes for warm-coloured decor in harmony with the surrounding green, and a complete experience: a spa, the Raizes Restaurant of Portuguese cuisine, the 1850 Bar, and a rooftop that has become one of Gaia’s most coveted viewpoints.

If you ask us, what sets the Boeira apart is the contrast: the calm of a garden with the infrastructure of a grand hotel, in the middle of the city. Rare, and very practical for a wedding.

About the Location

We are in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south bank of the Douro, less than two kilometres from the Port wine cellars, the Ribeira, and the Dom Luis I Bridge. It is the heart of historic Gaia, but inside an oasis of gardens — city and green at the same address.

The great advantage is centrality with calm. Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport is about twenty minutes away, the Gaia station a few minutes’ walk off, and Porto literally across the river — which makes the Boeira convenient for an international group that wants the city without the bustle.

Around it is the whole of Porto and Gaia for a day-after — cellars, Douro cruises, Serralves, the Foz — a short distance away. The Boeira Garden Hotel is a green, central base for a city destination wedding.

Weddings at Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Gaia, Curio Collection by Hilton

The Boeira’s great advantage is the garden with the structure of a five-star hotel. Civil and symbolic ceremonies take place in the lush gardens, outdoors, with the green making the setting; and the cocktail flows in the gardens, by the pool, or on the rooftop, with the 360-degree views over Gaia and Porto doing the rest.

Dinner and the party happen in the hotel’s banquet hall, with the Raizes restaurant’s kitchen serving the flavours of Portugal, and there is the option of a tasting at the Quinta da Boeira cellars, right next door, for the couple’s programme. The rainy months have the plan B guaranteed in the interior spaces, without losing the connection to the garden.

As a hotel of 124 rooms, the whole group sleeps in the house itself — a huge practical advantage for an international wedding. We know Porto and Gaia deeply. The couple’s session winds across the gardens and the 360-degree rooftop. Pop the question. We handle the rest.

What Mary Me Unlocks

The value we add is to represent you, independently, and to orchestrate everything that links the hotel to the Porto and Gaia around it. We handle the transfers from the airport (twenty minutes away), the management of the room blocks across the 124 rooms, with overflow at neighbouring Gaia hotels when the list is larger, and the arrival sequencing. Porto and Gaia are our home, so the programme for guests — cellars, Douro cruises, the Foz — comes to us naturally.

And there is the practical side: liaison with the Gaia and Porto churches for the Catholic ceremony, the council permit for fireworks, the sound curfew, the civil-ceremony paperwork in Portuguese, and a tasting at the on-site Quinta da Boeira cellars for guests. From the first call to the last dance.
