About this venue

A minute from Porto, by the Arrabida Bridge, there is a quinta that feels like a world apart. The Quinta do Jordao has almost ten hectares of green in the middle of the city, and its signature image is one thing: an avenue of century-old linden trees, a hundred metres long, which works both as a cinematic ceremony aisle and as a long table for an alfresco dinner.

Beyond the avenue, there is a Romantic Garden with a water mirror by the main house, a pavilion with tiles hand-painted by the artist Alberto Ayres de Gouvea, and a chapel for micro-ceremonies. The estate hosts ceremony-and-reception weddings of up to 300 guests, on an exclusive-use basis, and adapts to both the grand party and the intimate celebration.

For couples who want a garden wedding, with history and scale, minutes from Porto, this is a perfect spot. If you ask us, that linden avenue is worth an entire decor.

History

The Quinta do Jordao is a historic property in Vila Nova de Gaia, from the days when these banks were covered with manor houses at the door of Porto. It kept the elements that make it special — the main house, the romantic garden, and above all the avenue of century-old linden trees that runs through it — and adapted to contemporary events without losing its character.

The pavilion integrates the spirit of the garden with careful decorative elements, including tiles hand-painted by Alberto Ayres de Gouvea, which give the space an artistic signature. The chapel, small and secluded, is ideal for more intimate ceremonies, up to thirty guests.

If you ask us, what sets the Quinta do Jordao apart is the avenue. There are beautiful gardens in Gaia; few have a hundred metres of century-old lindens, capable of turning a simple entrance into a cinematic moment.

About the Location

We are in Vila Nova de Gaia, by the Arrabida Bridge, with Porto literally a minute away across the river. Despite being so central, the quinta is a green oasis of almost ten hectares, with the Douro breeze and the silence of the gardens — city and countryside at the same address.

The great advantage is the absolute centrality. Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport is about fifteen kilometres, twenty minutes by car, and Porto’s centre, the Gaia cellars, and the Foz a very short distance away — which makes the Quinta do Jordao convenient for an international group that wants a garden wedding without straying from the city.

Around it is the whole of Porto and Gaia for a day-after — cellars, Ribeira, Serralves, the Foz — at the door. The Quinta do Jordao is a green, historic, central base for a city destination wedding.

Weddings at Quinta do Jordão

The Quinta do Jordao’s great advantage is the variety of settings in a single garden, on an exclusive-use basis. Civil and symbolic ceremonies take place on the linden avenue — a cinematic aisle — or in the Romantic Garden, by the water mirror; and the more intimate Catholic ceremonies, up to thirty guests, have the estate’s own chapel. The cocktail flows in the gardens, under the century-old trees.

Dinner and the party set up on the avenue, with long tables under the lindens, or in the hand-painted-tile pavilion, or outdoors on the lawns. With capacity for up to 300 guests, the quinta adapts to the grand party or the more secluded celebration, and the natural beauty of the space spares almost all decoration — the couples’ own words.

The property hosts one event at a time, with exclusive use, so the gardens, the avenue, and the chapel are entirely yours. We know Porto and Gaia deeply. The couple’s session moves along the century-old linden avenue and the romantic garden. Pop the question. We handle the rest.

What Mary Me Unlocks

The value we add is to represent you, independently, and to orchestrate everything that links the quinta to the Porto around it — which at an international wedding, at a quinta with no hotel structure, is half the work. We handle the transfers from the airport (twenty minutes away) and the liaison with the hotels of Gaia and Porto for the room block, since there is no on-site accommodation — though the quinta has partnerships with select hotels. The arrival sequencing of an international group and the coordination of a wedding with scale — 300 guests is a lot of people to keep in rhythm — are part of the work. And there is the practical side: the chapel serves the intimate Catholic ceremony, and for larger groups we coordinate with the Gaia and Porto churches; we handle the council permit for fireworks, the sound curfew, the civil-ceremony paperwork in Portuguese, and the Porto programme for guests who stay on. From the first call to the last dance.
